Welcome to Calpe Press
Calpe Press Publishers is an independent publishing house based in Gibraltar. Founded by Jennifer Ballantine Perera, Calpe Press aims to be a small, bespoke, high quality press with rigorous editorial standards to support authors in assessing local and wider markets. The establishment of such an outlet is important for Gibraltar. The aim is to operate as a specialist publisher of Gibraltar and related subjects and to produce both fiction and non fiction.
Calpe Press will also operate as a reprint library and is to re-publish books on Gibraltar that are now out of print. These will be available with the addition of new introductions and notes which will contextualise each title within its historical or literary setting.
'Rock Cakes and Other Delights' by Nhean Haynes de Domecq offers the reader a wonderfully rich hybrid of a narrative that interweaves recipes handed down from mother to daughter with that of the family history of one of Gibraltar's key merchant families of the 19th and 20th centuries.
a lifetime in art

“A journey through his life and artistic development, an extraordinary record of a very long, successful, distinguished life as an artist in Gibraltar.”
'A Lifetime in Art' opens up a window into the trajectory of an artist, taking the reader through the first moves of a young man striving to become artist amidst the upheaval of the Second World War, culminating in what amounts to an impressive back catalogue of works.

The images in this diary are taken from the book
'My Nature Diary',
published in Gibraltar in 2008 by local artist and animal lover Christiane Fagan.
Christiane’s illustrations of the plant and wildlife on the Rock can be seen delicately reproduced on each page of this diary.
The hope is that you will enjoy these illustrations every month of the year and, in doing so, recall Gibraltar’s natural heritage.
